Post that resume. The collective wisdom is that networking is statistically the best way to get an interview. However, it’s not wise to put all your eggs in one basket. Even though the odds of success are less, the use of job boards is still a viable means to the end.

I’ve been looking at various materials and websites trying to decide what format I should use for my resume. There are tons of different opinions: long or short, pictures or no pictures or even video, personalize it like a story or just outline the facts. Resume writing services offer to do it for you, but they are usually in the hundreds of dollars when you get to cost. I know you probably recommend the type you teach on your site, but when I saw “Ask Cher”, I thought I’d do it and see what you have to say. So, Cher, what do you recommend when it comes to resumes?

You put your resume skills to work and have a good resume, but a resume is not always the right document to use in every situation. You also need a BIO for those times when a resume won’t work. ....
