I have received so many kind comments about my blog paying tribute Steve Jobs, that I thought it would be a good idea to write just one more.I find it difficult to believe that anyone who has been working more than twenty-five years has had a career without any disappointments or some pretty big bumps in the road. My career began as a semiconductor salesman in the late 1960s and having served in VP roles for five companies and CEO of two others, most would say, I’ve done pretty well. I have, but in 2006, I hit my major bump in the road. In 1998 I had founded Innovative Robotics, got it funded and ran it as CEO for eight years. We somehow survived the dot-com crash and had customers world-wide. In April of 2006 I was informed that I was being replaced as CEO and asked to clean out my desk. While trying to deal with the consequences and the shock of the event, I was reminded that the very same thing happened to Steve Jobs. It somehow put everything in a different perspective and I’ve never looked back.
Yes, Steve Jobs was my ultimate role model.
